The OSCE Presence in Albania, in partnership with the State Labour Inspectorate, has launched an awareness-raising campaign to strengthen workplace protection mechanisms and help prevent labour abuse and exploitation, with a particular focus on foreign workers in Albania.

“The campaign responds to the evolving profile of Albania's labour market, where the number of foreign workers has increased in recent years. This makes access to information on labour rights, protection mechanisms and available support services even more important,” the Head of Presence, Ambassador Michel Tarran said in a meeting with Chief Labour Inspector Eljo Muçaj on 26 June 2026, which marked the launch of the campaign.

Implemented through the communication channels of the State Labour Inspectorate and the OSCE Presence, the campaign provides practical information to help workers better understand their rights, access information on occupational safety and health and learn how to address available complaint mechanisms and institutional support services. It also highlights the essential role of labour inspectors in ensuring compliance with labour law, promoting safe and fair working conditions and identifying situations of labour abuse and exploitation, including cases that may constitute trafficking in human beings.

The campaign runs under the OSCE Presence’s project on combating trafficking in human beings, funded by the United Kingdom, Norway, Ireland and Italy. It is part of the Presence’s broader efforts to strengthen Albania's response to labour exploitation and trafficking in human beings through prevention, institutional capacity-building and enhanced public awareness.
