OSCE trains Albania’s election administration officials

All seven members of Albania’s Central Election Commission (CEC) participated in an electoral management course organized by the OSCE Presence in Albania in co-operation with other international organizations. The training course, in which they were joined by key CEC staff members, took place in Budva, Montenegro from 17 to 22 January 2013.

This project is part of the Presence’s continuous work to build capacity of national authorities to improve the preparation and administration of electoral processes, also in light of the general elections scheduled for 23 June 2013.

The course focused on the role of election administration bodies in managing all stages of the electoral cycle, with particular attention to the application of information technologies in elections. Other topics included gender perspective in elections, working with stakeholders, dealing with complaints, electoral observation missions, and election procurement and logistics.  It was delivered by experts of the International Centre for Parliamentary Studies. After the completion of the course, the participants received an internationally recognized certificate in electoral management.

British Government, the Council of Europe, US Agency for International Development and UN Women supported the course.
