OSCE Presence in Albania shares experiences on probation as alternative to custody, at international conference

An expert from the OSCE Presence in Albania took part in the first World Congress on Probation that the European Organization for Probation held from 8 to 10 October 2013 in London.

Alba Jorganxhi, from the Presence’s Rule of Law and Human Rights Department made a presentation on alternatives to custody in Albania and the establishment of the national probation service.

The OSCE Presence in Albania played a significant role in the creation of the Probation Service in 2009, and still provides support to this institution through capacity-building activities, as well as by facilitating the co-operation between the Probation Service and other stakeholders involved in the use of alternatives to custody.
