Crimes against the environment may take many different forms. They range from the smuggling of banned dangerous chemicals to the smuggling of wildlife. They may also include the illegal filling of wetlands, illegal deforestation, and illegal treatment storage and disposal of hazardous waste. Countering them requires understanding their nature, building technical capacities, and investigating techniques to prevent the great risk they pose to our environment, health and economic prosperity.

Since 2015, the OSCE Presence in Albania has been supporting the national authorities to better understand environmental crimes, build law and non-law authorities’ capacity, and develop technical and awareness-raising tools to prevent, fight and prosecute these crimes. This infographic is an overview of the Presence’s work against environmental crime from 2015 to 2020.
